Our client is a leading global Brokerage firm based in the City.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be the conduit between Risk Management and the respective business line and for risk management related queries;
Share risk messages (whiteboards, team meeting, etc) and actively participate to risk information/awareness initiatives
Ensure that any information and documentation produced about the business line risks and controls is accurate and meaningful;
Assist colleagues to understand how the risk process works, including the ERM Framework and associated methodologies and approaches deployed to manage risk;
Deliver training and running workshops on operational risk management and processes;
Provide guidance and lead exercises around the risk management processes (Risk Assessment Methodology, Risk Library, Risk Treatment Actions, Control Testing, Risk Reporting);
Maintain and continuously develop knowledge around core products, processes, technologies;
Promote the Risk Culture by encouraging a broad range of views to be heard, challenging the business upward and downward and advocating a risk adjusted decision-making approach while participating to the decision making process.
Assist in the risk identification, assessment, continuous monitoring and reporting processes. Support risk assessments as required, both routine and ad hoc;
Adopting a risk-based approach, create and execute a schedule of 1st line process ‘deep dives’;
Lead the annual RCSA exercise for all in-scope teams under own business area of responsibility;
Routinely identify and monitor manual interventions and single points of failures.
Contribute to maintenance of the Risk and Control inventory, ensuring business process flows are routinely reviewed, updated and reflected in the consolidated inventory of risks and controls
Help the business line define the controls and mitigating actions needed to bring the risk to a target residual risk level;
Review of key risks to ensure they are properly resolved and actions timely taken to prevent re-occurrence;
Ensure key risk issues are timely escalated;
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Broad understanding of the UK financial markets, and a detailed working knowledge of core services delivered by the Business for own area of responsibility
Good level of competence in a risk management or control assurance capacity with knowledge of risk assessment and control methodologies
Good presentation skills including ability to deliver routine and ad hoc training
Good written and oral communication skills – able to extract key messages from extensive data sources and able to produce recurrent/standardised reports
Good diplomatic skills and able to deliver sometimes difficult messages in an understanding and empathetic manner
