THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Developing an effective Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) and enhancing it wherever required.
Developing key operational risk management processes focusing on Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Key Risk Indicator (KRI), Incident Management System (IMS), Issue Management & Action Tracking (IMAT), Risk Event Report (RER) including Immediate Notifiable Event (INE), and Risk Scenarios.
Collaborating with First Line of Defence (business and operations) in implementing and embedding the ORMF and ORMF key processes across the organisation.
Supporting risk owners in the management of risk events occurring within own risk portfolio.
Identifying and driving continuous improvement in the management of operational risk. This includes but not limited to supporting the Risk Manager and team in oversight of Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) and Operational Resilience risk related activities.
Facilitating the risk incident management process, undertake risk incident reviews, and investigate the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to assist in the development and completion of risk mitigation strategies.
Owning, updating and maintaining Bank’s Risk Register on Pentana and provide training on use and functionality of Pentana and RCSA to all the functions within the Bank from time to time.
Oversee and challenge First Lien of Defence RCSA process.
Conducting thematic reviews and scenario analysis exercises.
Support First Line of Defence in conducting third party risk assessment on periodic basis.
Support Risk Manager in Second Line of Defence operational resilience activities including but not limited to enhancing Business Continuity Management (BCM) Framework, identifying and mapping Important Business Services (IBS), conducting Business Continuity Plan (BCP) testing and updating Business Impact Analysis (BIA) on a periodic basis.
Actively promote and ensure adherence to the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management & Control Framework (ERMF) and associated policies, guidelines, processes, and procedures.
Gather and produce operational risk-related data and conduct statistical analysis to identify and quantify risks.
Ensuring timely and appropriate escalation of issues to relevant senior stakeholders.
Providing coaching and support, being a point of escalation, and providing general support.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Good understanding of current regulatory issues; a good understanding of UK and European regulations
Extensive holistic experience in operational risk management, third party risk management, and operational resilience activities.
Have a good understanding of Bank’s business operation and culture including but not limited to a solid understanding of Treasury, Retail Banking, Trade Finance, and Mortgages, together with the associated processes and risks.
Experience in leading and facilitating RCSAs in both a departmental and process capacity.
Be skilled in preparing high quality presentations for meetings, workshops and trainings.
Be comfortable challenging and influencing a range of stakeholders.
Be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and have an ability to lead conversations to ensure understanding.
Good working knowledge and hands-on experience in using Pentana.
Have strong planning and organising skills, and attention to detail.
Excellent technical ability and in depth knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation.
Strong understanding of processes, procedures, and controls within financial services.
