Risk Controller (2 Year FTC)- Frankfurt

THE COMPANY:

Our client is multinational Corporate and Retail banking company.  They are looking for a Risk Controller to join the business based in Germany.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Custodian of the Germany Branch Risk Management Framework (GBRAF), ICAAP, Risk Appetite and other risk-related branch frameworks, policies, and manuals required as per regulation
• Annually review the GBRAF and other risk-related documents in accordance with the business strategy and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines
• Report portfolio reviews to committees of the branch
• Develop the risk policies and processes of the Germany Branch in compliance with MaRisk and applicable German regulations/
• Develop and update the monitoring plan and reporting process as per local regulations
• Review current processes and regulations with regard to liquidity risk management
• Analyse the risk of new and/or existing business activities and/or new processes in accordance with the Germany Branch Operational Risk Management Manual
• Supervise and further develop the structural and procedural organization (control system, organization guidelines, and process descriptions)
• Review the Germany Risk Operational Risk Management Manual annually
• Ensure oversight and adherence to the Germany Branch Operational Risk annual plan including PAC, RCSA, and BCP-related aspects, as approved by the Germany Branch Risk Committee (GBRC)
• Analyse materiality of outsourced activities and review material outsourced activities including reporting performance of outsourced service providers (in coordination with Branch Outsourcing Officer)
• Review the Germany Branch Information Security Risk Management Framework (GBISRMF) annually
• Ensure oversight and adherence to the Germany Branch Information Security annual plan
• Conduct investigation of IS incidents, if any, and report to relevant branch committee
• Ensure all activities in IS Risk are in conformity with BAIT
• Annually review and update the Germany Branch Credit Risk Management Policy document including frameworks like Germany Branch Risk Appetite limits, Germany Branch Credit Approval & Authorisation Manual, Germany Branch Country Risk Management policy,  governance policies, manuals, and frameworks related to operational risk and liquidity risk
• Annually review GBRAF and other risk-governance-related (credit risk, operational risk , liquidity risk) frameworks at the branch periodically to ensure compliance with prudential norms and guide the business groups on risk strategy of the branch and the UK bank
• Ensure that the risk inventory for the branch remains updated
• Enhance the methodologies for calculation of risk capital in close coordination with Finance and other relevant functions of the branch and the UK bank
• Develop and implement robust credit risk management systems/models for risk analysis, monitoring and reporting
• Facilitate formulation and approval of new policies, if any required, in accordance with the GBRMF
• Annually review the branch’s ICAAP document and stress testing exercises in accordance with German regulations
• Act as secretary to the Germany Branch Risk Committee (GBRC)

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• A professional degree like CA, CFA, CFM or in management is essential.
• Knowledge of DE/EU financial institution regulations including CRR, ICAAP, MaRisk, etc would be added advantage
• At least 3 years within Risk Management
• High integrity, credibility and communication skills to operate confidently and effectively at senior levels both internally and externally
• Strong analytical and presentation skills
• Good understanding of Basel norms on capital requirement for banks and financial institutions
